A Night of Glamour and Giving: Mom Prom 2025

In April, I had the absolute honor of working along side with Lacey from Lacey Green Photography, by capturing and documenting one of the most joyful, heartfelt, FUN, and inspiring nights I’ve witnessed in a long time — Mom Prom 2025. The evening was filled with radiant women dressed to the nines in glittering gowns, heels (and maybe a few sneaky sneakers), and all the confidence in the world, twirling and laughing beneath soft lights as the music carried them through a night made just for them. It was truly the best prom and event I have ever been to! And this wasn’t your average dance floor. This was a celebration of motherhood, community, and purpose — a beautiful collision of fun and fundraising that brought dozens of women together in support of something so much bigger than ourselves.

By offering spaces for respite, education, and connection, we ensure every parent has the confidence, tools, and community they need to succeed in their journey.

A night of fun - through my eyes

I had actually seen an ad for Mom Prom back in December and put it on my wish list of events to do with some friends. And of course, with life and kids- I forgot all about it until a few days closer to the date. Lacey from Lacey Green Photography is a good friend of mine. We have been friends for a long time through our photography and grew our relationship deeper through ice skating... and we partner up as a team as Green Photo Events. We have tons in common and I love how we just have this peanut butter and jelly friendship and work relationship.

Lacey was photographing the event and I was asked to provide makeup applications for a few of the women that were helping Mom Prom be amazing. After the makeup stuff was complete, I took out my camera and documented the evening as I danced and sang along to a night that was full of fun! Seriously- the BEST dance party!

Besides the amazing reason for Mom Prom, it was super COOL to have an event where us moms get a special night for us. We get to go shopping for a dress - and the more sparkle the dress has- the more "oooh" and "ahhhh"s you will hear. And let's not forget getting all glammed up like a super star! So many ladies, from new moms to older moms that are more of a grandmother, looked stunning! And we all danced! I saw many moms that just let loose and enjoy this creative night.

The night started with everyone checking in and receiving their corsage wrist flower and checking out the the biggest gift of the night that will be raffled off. Looking around the room, it made me laugh. We all looked like little kids with tickets won at Triple Play and we were ready to pick our prize. And those prizes?!! WOW! There were so many wonderful local businesses that went all out to help support Mom Prom.

I love a great creative way to get the community involved to love on one another. It takes a village and I don't know about you, but I would not have survived some pretty hard days if it wasn't for a group of moms and an organization that I felt safe and seen.

Please, no matter where you are at in your motherhood stage, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! You have a large group of women would will show up when you need us. We will rally around you and hold you up until you can stand on your own again.

Doree Handford is the heart behind this unforgettable evening and organization. She works tirelessly to provide programs, support, and safe spaces for families navigating life’s toughest challenges. From creating nurturing environments for children to offering vital resources to struggling parents, their mission is a lifeline in our community — and on this night, every dollar raised from the auction helped fuel that mission.

Doree Handford is a doula and ICEA childbirth educator with a deep commitment to supporting families through the transition into parenthood. With six children of her own, Doree understands the challenges parents face firsthand. Her passion lies in making this transition more manageable for others. Recognizing the difficulties families encounter, she founded A Parents Paradise Charities to offer assistance where it's needed most.

Sheree DiBiase is Vice President and has been a dedicated pioneer in women's health in the Inland Northwest for over 30 years.

She is the owner of Lake City Physical Therapy and has 7 different locations around North Idaho and Spokane to meet the needs of women in each area. She is committed to making a difference in Maternal Health and well being for all new parents.

Sheila Holfeltz is a dedicated mother of three boys and a passionate advocate for families in our community. With a strong background in leadership, she has served women and children through various roles, including leading women’s groups and coaching children in park and recreation leagues. Her extensive organizational skills and nonprofit expertise have been instrumental in driving the success of A Parent’s Paradise. Sheila’s unwavering commitment to improving our community makes her an invaluable part of our mission to support parents and families.
