A Celebration On Ice

I love this time of year as us figure skaters start getting excited and increasing our practice time for all the Holiday Shows that will be around in towns, big and small. There is just something so magical about watching figure skating during the winter months.

This is my second year with Tri-Cities Figure Skating Club and I couldn't be happier to belong to a club as much as I am now. Give me a moment while I share a few figure skating things with you before all the festive details on the upcoming show.

As a figure skater, you have choices you can do - you can just take tests, you can compete, you can be a single skater, pair skater or even be on a team. And although you don't HAVE to, it is best to be part of, what we call, a home club. This is your place/ club, that represents you as much as you represent them. They are the home base to do your tests, practice with other club members, be part of society and bring awareness to the public, go to competitions together and cheer each other on, but best of all, the place where you get to perform when the club hosts an event... such as A Christmas Celebration!

It is always best to join a club in your home town so you can skate and practice with your "team mates" and be around other supportive coaches. I choose to join Tri- Cities Figure Skating Club because of the way they support ALL their skaters - from young toddlers to us older adults. I value the way they come together for their coaches and the skaters. I whole heartily appreciate how they include everyone in their club and celebrate everyone's journey- no matter how big or how small - it is still a victory and it is so wonderful and meaningful to be part of a "club" that is so well rounded and loving. As an adult skater, unfortunately, we don't always get treated with respect and sadly, we also get laughed at often because of our goals and dreams at our age. But you will never find the most dedicated skaters such as us adults. And it means the world to us when a club and its younger skaters, cheer and celebrate for us - and for the younger ones. I could go on and on about it and my feelings. But just know that being a part of this club/team, makes my heart so happy and I am thrilled and honored to be a part of something!

Ok, now the FUN stuff!

Every Christmas season, Tri-Cities Figure Skating Club has produced a local Christmas ice show that features their club members and skaters from the Learn To Skate program. It is an evening with family and friends gather for a night of figure skating entertainment that is filled with the Christmas spirit and songs that you will happily sing along to with songs like Jingle Bell Rock, Last Christmas, Let It Snow, Carol of the bells, and much more. I am personally excited to be a part of the christmas program again this year. The song that I chose this year, swooped into my life in a much needed moment and since then, I knew that this song needed to be a program I wanted to share with others.

Also this year, myself and a great friend of mine, who is also a figure skater and a photographer, we will be joining forces and offering photography services to the skaters and their families.

Lacey Green

Lacey, from Lacey Green Photography, will be leading as main photographer and capturing all the LIVE action during the skaters performance. She will be sitting rink side and capturing all the sweet moments, expressions and skating skills.

Lacey is also a figure skater and understands all that it takes when you get out on the ice as well as that thrill and those slight nerves that come just before the music starts. Lacey is a well known event photographer in Idaho and has photographed many events such as CDAIDE, Childhood Cancer Coalition, Dinner Club and many more events. The way she captures a moment happening, is a gift that she clearly has!

Jackie Charlebois

And here I am ! I needed a change this year and decided to do a color change to my hair. It is very different than I have seen myself, but I am loving this mid- life crisis change.

I will also be offering photos during the Tri-Cities A Christmas Celebration ice show. While Lacey will be with the action, you will be able to find me on dress rehearsal day in the lobby offering Portraits of your skater. A classy, simple set up that will be great for documenting your skater in their beautiful Christmas costume. These portraits will be great for creating your skaters skating resume, to share on social media or to print out for your walls, photo albums or gifts to family and friends.

I am a professional photographer for children and families and own Jax Creations Photography and recently, I added competition makeup services to figure skaters at certain events.
